The RFCA and military leaders finally had chance today to thank in person some of the region’s top, forces-friendly employees.
The organisations were winners of Gold Awards under the Government’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme last year when Covid-19 was at its height.
So rather than being invited to a glittering award ceremony, the 2020 Gold Award winners missed out due to pandemic restrictions. That’s why the RFCA invited their representatives to be guests of honour at York’s Royal Gun Salute in honour of HRH The Prince of Wales’ birthday at the city’s Museum Gardens.
Support for the military
Organisations who win Gold Awards under the Defence Employer Recognition scheme offer the highest level of support to the military, including by being outstanding employers of reserves, cadet force adult volunteers and veterans.
The 2020 winners in Yorkshire and the Humber were:
- Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council
- East Riding College
- Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
- Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust
- North Yorkshire County Council
- North Lincolnshire Council
- York St John University
- York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
