September marks the start of school and new beginnings. Our cadet programmes offer a chance to learn beyond the classroom where you can take on new and exciting challenges and enjoy great experiences. Over the summer, our cadets are given the opportunity to go on annual summer camp where they come together to enjoy adventure and make lasting memories.
Yorkshire and Humber Air Cadets
Air cadet squadrons from all over Yorkshire and the Humber had the time of their lives at their annual camp in the spectacular region of Snowdonia and made the most of their school holidays by packing adventure, sport and fun into a six-day trip in Fairbourne, Wales.
A highlight in any cadet force’s calendar, the annual camps provide the opportunity for cadets to experience activities such as abseiling, kayaking and mountain biking, as well as learning teamwork and leadership skills.
Cadet Darcy Jones from 59 (Huddersfield) Squadron said: “I was excited to do kayaking and it didn’t disappoint. It’s safe to say all the cadets had an amazing time, even though some fell in the water!”
“I enjoyed this camp so much and this is my fifth time here,” added Cadet Sergeant Zak Munday from 185 (Batley) Squadron, “compared to all the camps I’ve been on this is by far the most enjoyable.”
Catching up with N&W Yorkshire ACF
We also had the chance to catch up with North and West Yorkshire ACF as they arrived at the start of annual camp. Hear more at:
Humberside and South Yorkshire ACF welcomes visiting cadets
During their first visit the the UK in August, the National Cadet Corps of India (NCC) spent three days with Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force (HSY ACF) during their annual camp.
The exchange visit was a great opportunity for our cadets, the NCC cadets and the Lothian and Borders Cadets, to see a different cadet organisations in action.
Col Fred Owen, Commandant said: “The warmth of our Scottish ACF counterparts and the vibrancy of the National Cadet Corps added a unique global dimension to our gathering, enriching the cultural tapestry of our camp. Inclusivity was our guiding star, ensuring every cadet felt valued and embraced. Regardless of background or origin, we united under the banner of shared experiences, learning from one another and celebrating our diversity. This camp showcased the power of unity, proving that when we come together with open hearts, we forge unbreakable connections”. Read more here.
